Team Racing

Throughout the year the GMAA will enter major Vermont & New England Races as a team. Teams are scored for age groups from open (under 40) to 60+. Everyone is welcome and entries are almost always unlimited. Team Racing is a fun way to get to know other runners, see new places, work on or show off your speed and enjoy a weekend.

What is the GMAA Team Racing Performance Series?

We believe we all race at our best when we come together as a team – and have more fun! With that in mind, each year, we pick a schedule of races that we encourage GMAA runners to compete in. Coaching and Group Workouts are primarily geared toward the 8 races from the schedule above.

For more information, please read the full description of the GMAA Team Racing Performance Series.

Performance Series Points & Prizes

The GMAA member who completes the series with the top score (best 5 out of the 8 races + volunteer requirement) in each age group will win (all for the following year):

  • Extra 15% discount at SkiRack (for 30% total) exclusive to running shoes/apparel
  • Free entry to GMAA races
  • Free Team Racing Pass

In addition to the performance based prizes, 2 club members will be chosen at random at each Team Racing Performance Series race to win a $25 SkiRack gift certificate OR GMAA apparel item.

Team Racing Pass

For $100, the Team Racing Pass will take care of your USATF Membership for the year, entry into all 8 Team Racing Performance Series events, and a team singlet (or equivalent piece of GMAA apparel, if you already have a singlet). The more Team races you do, the better the deal. Available for purchase here.
Once you’ve purchased the pass, the Team Racing Coordinator will follow up with you with more information about registrations and apparel sizing. Note: If you already have renewed your USATF membership for the year, please email Kasie for an adjusted rate pass. This pass is optional, you can opt to pay all fees independently.

Travel

When races are more than 100 miles away, we rent a van (or vans) to travel together to the race. For races with early start times more than 100 miles away, we also organize hotel room blocks. Runners are responsible for their own room cost, but room sharing makes for a very affordable option.

GMAA Uniform

We have a team singlet that we ask everyone to wear while representing the club at team races. GMAA singlets are available for purchase, at cost, at the SkiRack. Lots of other fun GMAA apparel and accessories are available at the team tent at all our club events or by request to our team fashion guru at: apparel@gmaa.net.

USATF Membership

To run for the GMAA, both your GMAA membership and USATF membership must be up to date. You can either purchase a USATF membership via our Team Racing Pass or directly through USATF here, please select the Green Mountain Athletic Association, Club #79. We are in the New England Association.

Group Workouts & Coaching

We hold weekly Thursday night workouts on the outdoor track at UVM, 5:30pm Thursdays, April through October; and Sunday long runs at The EDGE at 75 Eastwood Drive at 8:00am Sundays year round. The Thursday track workouts are coached and gear toward upcoming team races.

Weekly training emails are available by GMAA coach, Allen Meade. These training emails include the plan for the group workout as well as recommendations for the week’s mileage, additional workouts, and info about team training/racing opportunities. To be added to the weekly training email, contact: coach@gmaa.net
