Sign up for “Virtual” Pump It Up 5-Miler

Pump It Up 5-Miler has gone virtual!

Due to the current global health crisis and restrictions on social gatherings, GMAA will host the Pump It Up! 5-Miler race virtually on Saturday, May 16 & Sunday, May 17.

Get your cell phone or camera and pick your favorite 5 mile route, and join in on the fun!

Our next race is a cross country 5K on the trails

Our next race is a cross country 5K on the trails of Red Rocks Park. Proceeds go to GMAA scholarship fund. Each year the GMAA awards scholarships to college-bound runners based on their contributions to the sport of running and their academic achievement. In 2024 GMAA awarded three $1,500 scholarships to local students.

Registration Fee: $20 (GMAA members subtract $5)

Pre-registration is encouraged. Link in bio.
All pre-registered runners will be entered into the raffle. Online pre-registration will close the night before the race at midnight.

In-person registration will be available on race day 8-9AM.
There will be no refunds, deferrals, or transfers.

The Green Mountain Athletic Association announces

The Green Mountain Athletic Association announces 2024-2025 Scholarship winners.
The GMAA will award three scholarships of $1,500 each to graduating seniors to help fund their college careers. The winners were chosen from many applicants, and were determined based on their academic achievements, community and school involvement, and their contribution of the sport of running.
The GMAA is Vermont’s largest running club. Its mission is to promote good health, friendship, and fitness through running. The GMAA sponsors 11 races throughout the year.
The scholarship winners are:
Austin Simone of South Burlington High School - Austin joined the cross-country team his freshman year and the camaraderie quickly fostered his love of running. Austin has participated in cross-country, track and field, or Nordic skiing in all 12 seasons of his high school career, and was named co-captain for each sport his senior year. Austin will attend Penn State University this fall and major in mechanical engineering. Austin will run on the club team this fall and might try out for Penn State’s division 1 varsity program.
Porter Hurteau of BFA Saint Albans Porter participated in the cross-country, Nordic skiing, and track and field teams in all 12 seasons of his high school career. Porter was also named to the National Honor Society and has volunteered for the Special Olympics, as well as participated in many other philanthropic and volunteer activities. Porter will attend the University of New Hampshire and join the varsity cross-country and track and filed teams. Porter will major in mechanical engineering and aims to pursue a career in the automotive industry.
Gillian Fairfax of Burlington High School Gillian participated in soccer, cross-country, Nordic skiing, and track and field in all 12 seasons of her high school career. Gillian’s first race was at age 4 at the Yam Scram and has continued to run legs of the VT City Marathon. Gillian will attend Bowdoin College this fall and is interested in environmental science or biology. Running will continue to be a big part of her life and will incorporate it into her ski training. Running will be a life-long sport for Gillian

You've likely already heard this, but due to flooding in Richmond, this year’s Round Church Women’s Run is being changed to a VIRTUAL event. The date will remain the same, and participants will receive instructions to submit their results online.

Oh boy!!! The Clarence DeMar 5k is coming this Thu

Oh boy!!! The Clarence DeMar 5k is coming this Thursday, and there might be over 300 runners for the first time in over a decade! Sign up for a festive 5k, kids run beforehand, and cool refreshments and a celebration afterwards, followed by the South Hero town parade! Proceeds benefit the South Hero Rescue Squad. Location change! Tonight's GMAA social run for Tue

Location change! Tonight's GMAA social run for Tuesday June 18th will be 5:45 at Leddy Park. We'll run 3 miles up the bike path, and 3 miles down, then cool off in Leddy Park's beach!

Other group runs for the week include

Wednesday Trail Run: Cochran Ski Area in Richmond at 6 PM. Meet in the lower lot.

Thursday Track Workout: UVM Outdoor Track 5:45 PM. Guided speed session with Coach Ben!

Friday: Run from the SkiRack at 9 AM! There will be an option for a 3 mile and a 6 mile route at a casual pace. As a reminder, GMAA members get 15% off running shoes/merchandise.

Sunday Long Run: Meet up at the Skatepark on the Waterfront in Burlington at 8 AM. Exact route and distance will vary each week.

Join us for a Massive Group Run and BYOB BBQ on June 14, 2024.

Oakledge Park, Lower Pavilion

The run starts at 6PM. Relax and socialize after the run. GMAA will provide burgers (meat & veggie) and fixings. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and bring your own beverages (no glass bottles.)

Hear ye, hear ye! Join the GMAA as we stampede to

Hear ye, hear ye! Join the GMAA as we stampede to Montpelier the morning of June 8 for the 46th annual Capital City Stampede, put on by our partner club Central Vermont Runners. A 5k powerwalk is a new addition to the day. This event is a Performance Race for GMAA pass holders and is also the VT Senior Games 10k championship. No wonder so many of us participate!

Entry is $15 if you register before May 29, $20 after, $25 race day. Performance Pass holders please contact Seth to register.
